Four Independent News Sources That Are Worth Your Time

Its hard to find real journalism in our world today. I did a little research and found four independent news sources that were ranked among the best of several different independent news sources out there. All of which include articles written by credited professionals who strive to bring real journalism to life again. 

1) TheSleuthJournal.com- Wendy Banks is the Owner/Chief Editor. She is an independent journalist, researcher, writer and activist. Wendy is also the founder of TrueWire Productions, LLC, as well as Co-Founder and COO for Succor Consulting Group Inc, which is an IT Health Firm. Nearly all of the articles written for the Sleuth Journal are either written by Daisy Luther, Michael T. Snyder, or Stephan Lendman. 
      Daisy Luther- Freelance writer and editor. She has a website called, The Organic Pepper, which provides information on premium nutrition choices, general wellness and non-tech solutions.  
Michael T. Snyder- Graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and also has a law degree and an LLM from the University of Florida Law School. Michael is an attorney who has worked for some of the largest and prominent law firms in Washington, DC.
Stephan Lendman- Native of Chicago. Stephan owns his own radio show called Progressive Radio News Hour. He is also the author of the book titled, "Banker Occupation: Waging Financial War on Humanity"

2) The International Human Press (ithp.org)- This online news organization publishes original articles and updated news written by industry experts. There are over twenty-five accredited expert contributors to this website. Some of which include: 
     Edward M. Campbell Ph.D- Assistant professor at the department of microbiology and immunology at Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine.
     Robert Cialdini Ph.D- Regents' Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Marketing at Arizona State University. He is also author of the book, "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion." This book sold of two million copies, and was listed in Fortune Magazines, "75 Smartest Business Books."
     Charles R. Figley Ph.D- University professor in the fields of Psychology, family studies, social work, traumatology, and mental health. He is also the Paul Henry Kurzweg, MD distinguished chair in disaster mental health and graduate school of social work professor at Tulane University.
     Paul Jay CEO- Journalist, film director, and founder of the Real News Network. 

3) TheRealNews.com
     Paul Jay- CEO and Senior Editor who has overseen the production of over 4,500 new stories and is the host of the Real News' Analysis Programming. He is also an award winning documentary film maker with over 20 films under his belt. 
     Lynn Fries- Served as a senior research salesperson in the International Capital Markets division of a major investment bank in New York. 
     Reed Lindsay- Journalist and film-maker with over ten years of experience reporting and producing documentaries through Latin America, including five years in Haiti. His journalism has been published in more than 20 newspapers and magazines.
     Sharmini Peries- Served as Executive Director of:  The International Freedom of Expression Exchange, Canadian Journalists for Free Expressions The Royalty Commission on Systemic Racism in the criminal justice system, and the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants. As well as the Human Rights Code Review Task Force in Ontario.

4) Alternet.org
     Don Hazen- Executive Director of the Independent Media Institute and Executive Editor of the two-time Webby award winning news site, AlterNet.org. This site was started in 1997, and has around 2.7 million visitors every month. He is a former publisher of Mother Jones Magazine, and has edited and co-edited several books, including: "Dangerous Brew: Exposing the Tea Party's Agenda to Take Over America", "The 99%: How Occupy Wallstreet Movement is Changing America. Don holds a MA in counseling from the University of Massachusetts and a BA in politics from Princeton University. 
     Roxanne Cooper- Associate publisher at AlterNet. She deals with the organizations business operations. She has twenty plus years of experience in media, management, marketing and advertising sales. She has also held positions with LA Weekly, San Francisco Bay Guardian, and Stars and Stripes. 
     Joshua Holland- AlterNets senior staff writer, who was the recipient of a 2005 Schumann Foundation grant for independent journalism. Graduate of the University of Southern California's School of International Relations, with a focus in security studies and international political economics. 
     Kristin Gwynne- Graduate of New York University with a degree in journalism and psychology. 
     Elizabeth Hines- Former Director of Communications for the White House Project. Her work has appeared in the Huffington Post, Womens eNews, Black Enterprise Magazine, and babble.com. Hines is a co-author of the best selling biography, Black Titan, Ag Gaston and the making of a Black American Millionaire. She holds a BA from Yale University and did graduate work in Harvard's Universities Department of English and American Language and Literature.
